Welcome

EACS Families,

The beginning of this school year is off to a great start!  I can’t believe that we have already completed 3 full weeks of school.  We are just so GRATEFUL to have our students back in-person.

As the daylight hours get shorter and the temperatures get cooler, please advise your child on the appropriate attire for the weather conditions.  Please also pay attention to your school’s dress code in the handbook.

With fall approaching, there is always the possibility that school could be canceled due to inclement or unsafe weather conditions (as we experienced back in August with the fog).  We always do our best to keep students and staff safe. eLearning days take place on these weather-related cancellation days as well as on teacher/staff in-service days (September 14th and February 8th).  If you have questions regarding eLearning, please ask your child’s teacher.  Please also remember to “Like Us” on Facebook for weather updates on delays and closings.

As a reminder, you can keep track of your child’s academic progress by logging into Skyward.  Your child’s teacher will have their grades updated each Monday by 4:00 p.m.  Please contact your child’s teacher when you have questions about your child’s academic progress.  The sooner you and the teacher work as a team to address any problems or concerns together, the sooner we can get your child back on the right track to success.

I encourage you to support the many fall activities that are already underway at our schools. Many of our students are putting in extra hours after school and on the weekends practicing, rehearsing, performing, and competing in the many extra-curricular and co-curricular activities offered in East Allen County Schools.  I encourage you to take advantage of all the opportunities available to watch our students perform and compete as they represent their school and EACS.

I also would like to personally thank students, parents, and our entire staff for all the effort that is being put into creating a healthy and safe environment for our children.

Thank you again, for your patience as we work with you to provide the best possible education for your child.   As always, we look forward to working with you this year.  Please contact us if we can be of assistance.

Dates to Remember:

Friday, October 15th and Monday, October 18th – Fall Break (No school)

Dream it. Do it.

Sincerely,

Marilyn S. Hissong, Superintendent
